Saturday workshops during the academic year (September - June).

Immersion in authentic scientific investigations under the guidance of practicing research scientists after school.

On-site assistance and support from grant staff.

Opportunities to present classroom experience and instructional materials at state and national science education meetings.

Summer

Participate in intensive two-week summer institute.

Emphasis on disciplinary knowledge, scientific inquiry, nature of science, pedagogical knowledge, skills related to scientific inquiry and nature of science, leadership skills.

Develop performance-based assesments for scientific inquiry and nature of sciece.

"Field test" instructional materials generated and revised during the summer institute with students.
