CONSTITUTION OF THE IIT BIBLE CLUB
ARTICLE I. NAME
Section 1. The name if this organization shall be IIT Bible Club.
ARTICLE II. PURPOSE
Section 1. The purpose of this organization is to encourage students at IIT to study the Bible and live according to its teachings.
We believe the Bible is inspired by God and it is the infallible, authoritative word of God to govern our Christian faith and practice.
ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP AND DUES
Section 1. Membership to this organization shall be open to all IIT students.
Section 2. There shall be no dues.
ARTICLE IV. OFFICERS
Section 1. The officers of the organization shall consist of a President, a Vice President, and a Secretary/Treasurer.
Section 2. Duties and Powers:
a. President- The duties of the President shall be to preside at the meetings, call special meetings, and appoint committees.
b. Vice-president- the duties of the Vice-President shall be to perform all the duties of the president in his/her absence.
c. Secretary/ Treasurer- the duties of the Secretary/ treasurer shall be to keep an accurate, permanent record of the organization, to take charge of all correspondence. Although there shall be no dues, when need arise, the secretary/ treasurer shall be responsible for any funds involved and reported to the President.
Section 3. Election of Officers:
a. The officers shall be elected at a regular meeting of the organization one month before the end of the academic year.
b. Officers must take an oath of office in which they state that they believe the Bible is the Word of God and in which they pledge to obey it personally and to encourage all members to do the same.
c. Candidates will be nominated from the floor.
d. Voting shall be by ballot.
e. A majority of 2/3 of all votes cast shall be necessary for election.
f. In case of vacancy in any office, the Executive Committee will nominate three candidates, one of whom will be chosen by a majority vote in the general election.
ARTICLE V. MEETINGS
Section 1. IIT Bible club will meet weekly on the day of the week most convenient for members to be decided by majority vote.
ARTICLE VI. QUORUM
Section 1. 2/3 of the voting members of this organization shall constitute a quorum to transact business.
ARTICLE VII. AMENDMENTS
Section 1. Proposed amendments shall be submitted in writing and read at a regular meeting and shall be acted upon at the following meeting.
Section 2. This Constitution may be amended by the majority vote of ¾ of those eligible to vote.
ARTICLE VIII. RATIFICATION
Section 1. A 2/3 majority of those present at the first meeting of the newly formed organization will be necessary to ratify this constitution.
ARTICLE IX. PROCEDURE
Section 1. "Robert's Rules of Order" shall be followed for all matters of procedures not cover by the Constitution.
