IIT-Cricket
Club was officially forged in 1997 on the hallowed
grounds of Illinois Institute of Technology - Chicago,
with cricket enthusiasts on the board along with tactical
and structural inputs from senior and former students
of IIT. Today the affairs of the IIT is handled by
a very strong and able board comprising of exceptional
individuals selected form the diverse and vast talent
pool of IIT students. All members on the board are
democratically elected by means of a free and fair
election process.
Since its inception, the IIT Cricket club has been
striving continuously and incessantly to promote the
game of cricket not just locally, but in and around
the Chicago land area itself. The board and the team,
strongly backed by its advisors
is involved in actively touring cricket clubs, in
and around Chicago, participating in tournaments and
friendly matches aimed at promoting awareness in the
general, about the game of cricket. The Cricket Club
is an active Student organization at IIT
Chicago and is supported by the
SLC
and funded by the university.
The Midwest
Cricket Conference is one of the
nine divisions that span the entire United States
of America and IITCC is proud to have active members
in the Midwest Cricket League, participating and contesting
tourneys with competitive Cricket Clubs in the Midwest
Region. We had a fruitful cricketing season last year
and are looking forward to better our performances,
ratings and standing in the league this season.
IITCC will hold live telecast sessions of cricket
matches in the future, to promote and increase the
level of general awareness about the game of cricket.
IITCC has in the past held live telecast sessions
of cricket matches from around the world. Such events
are open to anyone interested and are not restricted
to students of IIT.
IITCC Tech-League is the local IITCC league and it
is open to any team, which is interested in participating
in local competitions/tourneys conducted by IITCC.
