We want to welcome our new members and get our ChAMP students ready for the New Mexico Conference July 25, 1997. Students interested in presenting in New Mexico should contact their ChAMP Directors.

Flordia and groupChicago AMP students ventured to Florida State University to present their research results at the 4th Annual NSF-AMP Student Research Conference, July 20-22, 1996. Besides schmoozing with the Brass, some of the group toured the Wakulla Springs Swamp.

Shirly Malcom The Chicago AMP Held its First Annual Undergraduate Research Conference at Chicago State University on Saturday, April 13, 1996. Students presented both poster and Oral presentations. Shirley Malcom gave the Award Address. Sessions on the Interent were well attended. Abstracts are available by contacting Fay. Members of the Detroit AMP joined us as presenters.

AbeFive staff and six students attended the Diversity Conference September 21-23, in Washington DC. Stacey Smith, CSU, and Prof. Peter Johnson, IIT were on the NSF Sponsored Panel on "Using Technology and the Information Highway to Improve Scientific Writing." Three Students presented.

The sevenSeven of our AMP Undergraduate Research Scholars attended The 3rd Annual NSF- AMP Student Research Conference (ARC) hosted by the California AMP in August of 1995. Five of our scholars presented results of their research. The breath of their interests are demonstrated by the abstracts they submitted.
Two Scholars, Diego Carlton, IIT, and Nicole Scarbrough, CSU, won first place Awards in their respective divisons.

winnerFour of our AMP Undergraduate Research Scholars attended The AMP Research Conference (ARC) hosted by the Alabama AMP in July of 1994.
One Scholar, Debra Dunn, Loyola, won the first place Award in the Biological Division.
