High Technology and Student Academic Support
Developing effective scientific writing skills can be accomplished through description and definition, thus developing students' critical reading and writing skills. Description creates a picture in words. Definition provides a shared contact point between the writer and the reader.
The World Wide Web provides a standard and powerful medium for the rapid transfer of information in a usable fashion. This panel will discuss the efforts of the AMP Program in the area of providing timely and effective information in hypertext database format. Descriptions of educational opportunities, research efforts, and national and local financial aid opportunities have been put on the Web by the AMP Program.
This workshop will provide examples how AMPs are using high technology to encourage full participation of minority students in SMET fields.
