Social Life in Chicago
Chicago has many opportunities to see some Jazz and Blues performances. There are many Jazz and Blues bars where great performers play. Also the annual festivals at Millenium and Grand Parks fascinate thousands of people every year. Most people around the world know Chicago because of Michael Jordan who won 4 NBA Championships in a row with the Chicago Bulls. The Chicago WhiteSox, whose home field is near Illinois Institute of Technology main campus, won the 2005 MLB Championship. Chicago has many beaches open to people for swimming, playing beachvolleyball, and yachting in the Lake Michigan. Chicago has also some marinas where lots of yachts anchor. In the area of shopping, Chicago is also famous for its Magnificant Mile, which has many gorgeous shops stretching along Michigan Avenue for one mile. Every Saturday the sky lights up with fireworks at Navy Pier. It is possibble to see them by diving tours and boat tours. Chicago has many museums which can be found throughout the city. The Adler Planetarium is the first planetarium of the west hemisphere and also unique in the world for its two fullsize planetariums. The Shedd Aquarium is the biggest of its kind in the world, the Field Museum holds "Sue", the most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil in the world and the Art Institute of Chicago holds one of the world's great art collections.
