The Illinois Institute of Technology will be hosting the 3rd Annual Undergraduate Research and Presentation Conference on April 24, 1998. It will be held in the Herman Union Building (HUB) from 2 PM to 6 PM. All IIT students taking part in a research
project, I-PRO, or special project are invited to participate. Presentations will be in the form of posters and may be supplemented with computer demonstrations or models. Students from all engineering, science, and psychology disciplines are encouraged to present and the entire IIT community is invited to attend. This year's conference features keynote speaker Dr. Vytas Narutis, IIT alum and Senior Scientist at the NALCO Corporation. |
Following the poster presentations and keynote speech will be an awards ceremony where approximately $2,500 in prizes will be awarded to presenters in several categories. More than thirty individuals and groups participated in last year's conference, presenting on a wide range of topics including, "Engineering Applications of Diffraction Enhanced Imaging," "Modeling Human Respiratory Mechanics," and " WWW Resume Application." Bonnie Welcker, sophomore in Chemical Engineering won the Class Act Award at last year's conference for her presentation on "Mulluscicidal Efficacy of Mucosal Irritants on Dreissena Polymorpha and Corbicula Fluminea." |
Bonnie plans to present again this year on her most recent research and had this to say about the conference: "I believe that the undergraduate research conference provides a valuable forum for student researchers to share their findings with fellow students and professors. It allows the students to get feedback on their projects as well as get a chance to see what other projects are currently in the works at IIT."
