Future Recommendations

The technical discussion shows that the humidification-dehumidification model studied is a reasonable candidate for water desalination.  However, there are many important obstacles to overcome before a lower cost plant can be modeled.

Selected Recommendations for Future Studies:

·       An increase in size might lower the prohibitively large capital costs.

·       Changes in material and production methods should be studied for possible cost reductions.

·       The target market study should be reassessed and expanded.  A market change from private individuals and communities to commercial plants and other users more willing to pay an elevated price for water production is a possible consideration.

·       The technical calculations should be performed in a more detailed manner. The model should be further investigated and simplifying assumptions should be re-evaluated.
