In order to standardize the forces used in creating a cast for a patient
with scoliosis, the following kit was developed. Through a series of
pads, straps, and numbers we are better able to record and replicate
a patient's casting procedure.

Pictured above is the prototype for the casting system. Adjustments
to this prototype were made throughout the semester. These adjustments
included changing the type of buckle used to clasp the straps to the
clamp, making some of the pads symmetrical, and using velcro to make
the pads more adjustable.
After removing redundant pieces, etc, the kit developed consists of:
Pads:
Axilla (symmetrical)
= 1 x 4 sizes = 4
Thoracic (symmetrical)
= 1 x 4 sizes = 4
Lumbar (nonsymmetrical)
= 2 x 4 sizes = 8
Trocantor (symmetrical)
= 1 x 4 sizes = 4
Straps:
½ strap
(6ft long) 5 max. = 5
1½ strap
(6ft long) 5 max. = 5
Buckles:
2 per strap, 10 max.
= 10
Clamps:
5 max.
45 TOTAL PIECES PER
