Scholars of the Lost Exhibit In response to the need of a elementary educational product that will appeal to the young audience, the IPRO continues the development of Scholars of the Lost Exhibit - specifically intended to teach elementary concepts.
Concepts Taught
Created in a cross-major project by students at Illinois Institute of Technology, Scholars of the Lost Exhibit is a suite of small games, covering a variety of subjects. Its purpose is to provide an enjoyable and educational environment where students explore the virtual museum. Surprises await the students in the museum in the form of entertaining games that are relevant to the materials they are studying in school. With areas devoted to math, science, language arts, and social studies, each small game tackles an area of the subject that fourth graders commonly have trouble with. Each concept is presented in a fun and educational manner, so that the user can learn the important ideas behind the concept while also having a good time.
Game play
Scholars of the Lost Exhibit takes place in a musuem, where students are on a field trip. The player accidentally strays away from the group and wanders about the museum lobby. While exploring the museum lobby in hope of reuniting with the class, the student encounters police officers and reporters. Obviously in the wrong place at the wrong time, the player is immediately rushed away from a crime scene and placed in the care of the scientist. The scientist explains the student’s class was kidnapped along with the most valued exhibit, Stan, the largest, most complete, and best preserved Tyrannosaurus rex in the world. The player learns Stan’s evil siblings are the ones responsible for all the terror and are hiding in different wings of the museum. The scientist explains the student is the only one who can find the class and save Stan’s exhibit by visiting all the wings of the museum and playing various games in each wing. Every game the student wins puts the student closer to finding the siblings, retrieving Stan’s bones, and rescuing the class.
