Calendar of Events

Week 1:

Identified what challenges we face this semester.

1. Read competition guidlines and create bridge design.
2. Find sponsors.
3. Prepare for IPRO Reports, Midterms and Finals.
4. Design T-shirts for the contest.
5. Organize the trip to go to Wisconsin for the competition.

Week 2:

Create and organize class into groups to better tackle the issues.

Each team was sent to find out the best course of action for each problem.

Week 3:

Each team gave short presentations on what the steps they would take to acheive their tasks. Design team was split in two and asked to come up with designs. We discussed the good and bad about both designs and chose a design we all felt would be a winner.

Week 4:

Identified 2 sponsors for the steel supplies and a steel construction area with people to assist in the construction of the bridge.
Further studies done into the design and fitting it into the rules and guidelines.

Week 5:

Dgitization of design in progress.
T-shirt design released and voted on. Sent design to Communication and Marketing department at IIT to make sure it fitted with IIT's guidelines. Click here to see the final design.
Also identified 2 more sponsors who had sent some money to help us fund the project.

Week 6:

Design complete. Studies using programs like SAP to study deflection of the bridge and really understand the design done. Class shown and taught about the bridge and breifed on how to construct it.

Week 7:

Class goes to Elgin to construct the bridge. Construction went smoothly. Also T-shirts were sent in to be printed. We got an awesome deal for the t-shirts.

Week 8:

Construction complete. Brought the bridge back to IIT and competition construction began. Faced a couple of problems getting the bridge fitting but worked things out fast and efficiently.

Week 9:

Competition training continues. More sponsors found to support the trip to wisconsin and stay there.
Got the great looking t-shirts to go with our awesome bridge :)

Week 10:

Competition training continues. Ready for the competition. GO IIT!!
