OK, a few tips from some one who ran clan Tremere in a LARP for around a
year. I believe I was the only Primogen not to have clan members killed
off by outside sources in any LARP from this area. Of course, there was
the member who was an ... internal matter.
- Take a look at your starting disciplines. Now notice something.
Unlike any other clan, almost NONE of your abilities are designed to
allow you to survive an attack from another kindred. Even Malkavians
have Obfuscate to run away with. Take this to heart, and stick to
Elysiums while gathering your abilities and contacts.
- NEVER, EVER, EVER take on someone by yourself. Clan Tremere is
famous for its unity of purpose. How we ran it was that we avoided
conflict like the plague, until around once a month we came down (all
Bridging the Crimson Lineage, of course) with rituals and items in
abundance and trample the 1 Kindred who was causing us trouble. It
developed a reputation for us that made other clans terrified to cross
us...
- Never tell everything you know at once. As masters of the occult,
Tremere are often consulted by the powers that be concerning mystical
threats to the city. As long as they believe that you are essential to
everyones safety, they will not think of you as expendable. Cloak a
lot of what you are saying in parables, and give the impression that
the problem is insurmountable except to one of your knowledge and
education. My favorite phrase was, "Hmm interesting. It is similar to
a case I studied once. If you'll excuse me, I will check the case
history in the Chantry. I will have your answers shortly." This
ensured that they would have to keep me around, but never actually
give away anything.
- Do NOT be blunt! Do NOT get caught stealing blood, binding people to
you, stealing artifacts, or any of the other things Tremere will of
course be doing. Remember, convincing someone it is in their best
interest to do what you want them to do anyway is far preferable to
actually having the positions of authority in the first place. The
prince is always a target; his/her "trusted" advisor seldom is... Be
subtle, give advice (that corresponds to your designs), and become a
valued member of the society. This has worked for the Jesuits for
years....
Well, I think I've rambled on far enough. Good luck, my young clans
brother. An eternity of knowledge and power await you.
