Consume! Consume! Consume, Gen X! Oh, if I could only be more like Ross. Maybe I'll get a whacky little monkey. No! I want to be like CHANDLER, oh, that is such a hip name. And his whacky comedic timing is Sooo, well, whacky! Being a male Gen Xer, I am well in touch with all the hip trends. It's easy! GQ, Maxim, they tell me who to be! Who am I? Why I'm a gen Xer that's who! I'm not jason, I'm "Gen X jason." Please label me! Please label me! I love labels! They're my very identity! I am what I wear! I am whatever vapid trent I follow! I am not myself these days, but who cares? I'm Gen X!

I'd like to add to the confusion, if I may. From a demographic perspective (one of birthrates)Generation X begins in 1959 (the year birthrates fell below the 1946 level) and ends at about 1971. Generation X is "coming of age" in the aftermath of the 60s generation. You know, all the things you list tied to the Baby Boomers. No way people my age experienced those things during our teen and young adult years. Nor was our culture even closely related to the Baby Boomers'. Our mainstream music was heavy metal, southern rock, and yes....disco for a short period. Not the melancholy, war protesting music that epitomized the 60s. Viet Nam was "officially" over while we were still in grade school. Simply put, we're not Baby Boomers. Not culturally and not demographically.
