Mail Lists

Mail lists enable patients and their families to communicate with other patients and care givers.  Many of dialysis mail lists have subscribers from all over the world.   One of the most popular dialysis lists is located on eGroups™.   You can choose to either read messages others have sent or you can subscribe to the list.  As a subscriber, you can post questions and respond to others' messages.  For example, if you are having side affects from a certain drug, post a message asking if anyone else has had the same experience and what they have done.   Planning a trip to Japan? Europe? Post a message asking for advice on traveling and receiving dialysis in a specific country.  Problems with your insurance?  Most likely at least one of the hundreds of subscribers to this list has experienced and resolved your same problem.  One patient, an avid outdoorsman, received help in equipping his motor home (yes, motor home!) for hemodialysis so that he could travel.

Care givers also subscribe to the eGroups™ list.  Often times an elderly patient's son or daughter joins the group to get support and answers to their questions.  The list is open to anyone with an interest in dialysis.

Another aspect of the list is communication of information regarding government programs, passage of associated bills, medical breakthroughs and most importantly, organ transplantation.   The success stories alone make this list  worth subscribing to.
