Biographical Sketch

I was a Ph.D. candidate in the Information Retrievel Lab. at Illinois Institute of Technology. My research is on Scalable, Distributed/Peer-to-Peer Information Retrieval systems. My advisor are Prof. Wai Gen Yee, and Prof. Ophir Frieder. I graduated in May, 2009. I am member of the ACM and IEEE.

I got my M.S. and B.S. in Computer Science, both from Hanoi University of Technology (Vietnam), in 2002 and 1993, respectively. My M.S. thesis is about index structures for temporal databases, and my B.S. thesis is about digital signal processing based on Fast Fourier Transformation.

Before joining the IR Lab. at IIT, I have been working as a project manager/technical lead/software engineer for 10 years in Finance/Banking industry.

Personal

I have been living in Chicago with my family since 2004. My wife graduated from Stuart Graduate School of Business, Illinois Institute of Technology in May, 2007. We have two daughters, Cammy, and Anny . Originally, we are from Hanoi, Vietnam. We love Chicago, and we miss Hanoi. We wish if Hanoi wouldn't be half a globe away from Chicago.
