NSBE's Mission: To increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.

NSBE-IIT sets the standard of excellence in providing services to engineering, science and mathematics students. We utilize our potential to facilitate NSBE's mission of increasing the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.

Greetings, On behalf of the IIT members of The National Society of Black Engineers, NSBE, I would like to welcome new and returning members to our website. I hope returning students had a wonderful summer vacation in preparation for their semesters left at IIT and the new students are ready for the challenges that would develop them in the course of their academic study. NSBE Is a non-profit organization founded in 1975 at Purdue University by six people. This small group has transformed into what is now the largest student-run organization in the country with Chapters in the US, Canada and Africa. NSBE is dedicated to the realization of a better tomorrow through the development of intensive programs for increasing the recruitment, retention, and successful graduation of minorities in engineering.

The benefits that come with been a NSBE member at IIT includes the following:

• Important things to remember:
  
  1. General Meeting: Our first general meeting was scheduled for the 1st of September 2009 at 12:50p. Lunch was provided. The next meeting would be in two-weeks. More information about it to follow in due time.
  
  2. Scholarship Opportunity
  AfterCollege is funding four $500 scholarships, exclusively for students seeking a bachelors, masters, or doctorate in the field of engineering. This scholarship will be given four times annually. The first scholarship deadline is March 31st. If you are on our mailing list, check you email for more information.
  
  3. NSBE IIT Chapter is setting up a central location where old exams, quizzes, and textbooks will be accessed by members of the organizations. We are now accepting donations for the "mini-library". If you have old exams, quizzes, or textbooks that you want to donate please email our academic excellence chair (Nana) at nsbeiit.academics@gmail.com
