Physical Education and Sports Teams
The 2000-2001 Pershing school athletic season was very successful. Our Girls Varsity Pom Pon Team won First Place in the Region 4 Competition and qualified for city.
The Girls Pom Pon Team is coached by Ms. Tamara L. Smith.
The Girls Varsity Cheerleading team is coached by Ms. Cordelia Parker (pictured) and Mrs. Amy Treadwell. (not pictured).
Our Girls Varsity Cheerleaders won First Place in the Region 4 Competition and qualified for the city.
Our Boys Varsity Basketball team had a very successful 2000-2001 campaign. We placed first in the Foreman High School Tournament, second in the Hales Franciscan and DeLasalle High School Tournaments. We ended our regular season with an 8-2 record. However, we lost in the first round of the playoffs to Donohuge Elementary.
Our Boys Varsity Basketball Team is coached by Mr. Duane Davis (pictured) and Mr. W.D. Head and Mr. John Jackson (not pictured). We salute our graduates and three year veterans and hope they have successful high school careers. (Golden Head not pictured as well).
This was our first season for Girls Varsity Basketball. We were second in our conference with an 8-1 record. We lost in the first round of the playoffs to Beasley Academic Center. The Girls Varsity Basketball Team is coached by Mr. Duane Davis.
Our Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Team made a tremendous improvement this year. We went from worst to first. We had a 4-1 record, and we won our first round playoff game against Daniel Hale Williams Elementary School. However, we lost in the second round to Woodson North. Great Job gentlemen! The Boys Junior Varisty Basketball team is coached by Mr. Duane Davis and Mr. W.D. Head (not pictured).
All of our athletic accomplishments could not have been possible without the help of the teachers, administration, staff and parents at Pershing School. Also, our manager is in every basketball picture, Mr. Theodore Feaster.
