DUAL ADMISSION - OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE (B.S./D.O.)

SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION AND MATERIALS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS PROGRAM AND MUST BE RECEIVED BY JANUARY 7, 2009.

See www.iit.edu/undergrad_admission for details.

Program

IIT and Midwestern University's Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) have partnered to offer the Dual Admission — Osteopathic Medicine (B.S./D.O.) program. The program provides dual admission to IIT and CCOM. With the increasingly important role of technology in the diagnosis and treatment of disease, a rigorous baccalaureate education in a technological field is ideal preparation for students interested in pursuing a career in osteopathic medicine. The osteopathic philosophy is to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms.

It emphasizes the interrelationships of structure and function, and the appreciation of the body's ability to heal iteself. Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) practice this distinct field. Other than MD's, DO's are the only type of physician in the United States who are fully trained and licensed to perform surgery and prescibe medicine.

Acceptance into the program will require supplemental application materials and an interview with representatives of IIT and CCOM.
