IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFUL CONSTITUTION ARTICLE 1: NAME The name of the organization shall be “PAKISTAN STUDENT ASSOCIATION”, in short “PSA”. ARTICLE 2: AIMS AND PURPOSES The Aims and Purposes of the PSA shall be: · To hold events to display the Pakistani art and culture to other IIT students, faculty members and the Chicago Community.· To Lease with Pakistani student who are intending to come to IIT and to provide them necessary information and clarification whenever required.· To assists arriving Pakistani student in initial settlement and to familiarize them with IIT, Chicago.· To hold functions and get-together, on a regular basis, in order to develop a well-knit Pakistani community and to provide the student a flavor of home.ARTICLE 3: MEMBERSHIP (a) Any IIT student who desire is eligible for membership. (b) All members of PSA shall have the privileges of participating in the discussions, deliberations and the activity of the Association. (c) All members shall have voting rights and rights to run for the executive committee. ARTICLE 4: OFFICERS The officers of the Association shall consists of President, Vice-President, Secretary and a Treasurer. All of them shall be Pakistani students at IIT and the member of PSA. SECTION 1: PRESIDENT (a) Shall preside over all the meetings of PSA. (b) Shall form special committees to coordinates and perform various tasks. (c) Shall act as a top spokesperson for the Association. (d) Shall report to the member of the Association about his/her own actions and that of his/her subordinates. (e) The members have a right to call a No-confidence meeting against any of the officials if they deem fit in doing so. SECTION 2: VICE-PRESIDENT (a) Shall assume the office of the president in the event of president’s temporary or permanent absence until the following elections. (b) Shall assists the president with the affairs related to the organization as directed by the president. SECTION 3: SECRETARY (a) Shall be responsible for all the secretarial requirement of the organization. (b) Shall convene all the meetings of the Association. (c) Shall take out the minutes of the meetings. SECTION 4: TREASURER (a) Shall be responsible for all the funds of the organization. (b) Shall keep the president informed with up-to date financial reports. ARTICLE 5: MEETINGS (a) The president shall call the association meetings at least once every semester. (b) The president can direct secretary to call an emergency meetings if he deem fit. ARTICLE 6: ELECTIONS (a) The election of the officers of the association shall take place at the end of the spring semester of each year. (b) The term of the office shall be one year beginning from the summer semester. (c) All the members of PSA are eligible to vote. (d) The officers shall be elected by secret ballots and the president, or in his/her absence, another officer, shall conduct the elections. (e) Candidates for any position can contest in the election as an independent candidate or can contest as a complete board. (f) If any office falls vacant within the year, the president or vice-president assumes the responsibility of the office until filled. ARTICLE 7: AMENDMENTS Propose amendments to this constitution can be initiated by a majority vote by the members.
