Objectives:
  • Demonstrate the ability to use IIT resources: Galvin Library, Career Management Center, Academic Resource Center.
  • Become familiar with open source software for scientific applications.
  • Design protocols and carry out a simple experiment.
  • Demonstrate competency in data analysis and graphing.
  • Design and carry out a project from proposal stage to presentation.
  • Prepare and deliver a technical presentation.
Grading: Grading for this course will be based on the written assignments, presentations and attendance. Completion of all assignments and projects will guarantee 100%. There will be a one letter grade reduction per two missing assignments. There will be a one letter grade reduction per missing major project.
Academic Honesty Policy: IIT has a Code of Conduct which is available at http://www.iit.edu/~osa/Handbook/handbook.pdf (see page 31). All students in this course are expected to follow this code. The first violation will result in a grade of "zero" for that assignment (exam or quiz). Subsequent violations will result in a failing grade in the course.
