On September 22, you were introduced to the Career Management Center (CMC) and what they can do to help you start a career with your physics degree. Using any available word processing program, develop a resume using all the resources available at the CMC. Once you have a draft resume, you will need to have it critiqued at the CMC before the final version which needs to be turned in to me in PDF format (ONLY!).
As was discussed in class, the resume may be different depending on the audience. This means you need to choose a type of job you will be applying for. Since you are Freshmen, you will prepare a resume suitable for finding a summer job as an intern in a company, a participant in a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program, or another kind of job which is related to your major. When you turn in the assignment, please identify the job you are seeking.
A final word about document preparation. LyX can certainly be used to prepare your resume. You can also use Openoffice Writer or even Microsoft Word. Note, however, that LyX and Openoffice are able to produce a PDF file with no extra software while Microsoft Word needs a third party program of some kind to make PDF files. Note also that openoffice can read and write Microsoft Word documents and is available for free for Windows, Linux and Mac (a real deal!).
