Objective: To enhance student's knowledge about the general structure and function of cells in organisms. To explain how cells function as building blocks of organisms and describe their component structures, cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm and chloroplasts

Lesson Type: Internet

Activity1: Vocabulary:
The students will find the definition for the following Science words: Cell, Cell membrane, Nucleus, Cytoplasm, Chloroplasts and Mitochondria. They will use the words in Science daily.

Activity2:
The students will make a model of cell: include nucleus, membrane and mitochondria.

 

                                                                                              

 

Activity 3:
Writing - The students will write a research or a book report about cells and their functions.

Activity 4:
The students will chose a component of their choice to research on the Internet. They will bring back the information that they find and present this to the class for discussion.               

Activity 5:
The students will make a model of a cell.

Assessment:

Use the sites below to answer the following questions:

  1. How many cells are there in the human body?
  2. Name the four cell components.
  3. Define the word cell.
  4. Describe the cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, chloroplasts, and mitochondria.
  5. What materials can you use to make a model  of a cell?
