You should go through a sequence of windows such as the following, although JavaSoft will be changing the content all the time:
Click on Products and APIs to go to
Choose the JDK 1.1 to get to
Then choose your system (here the Win32 Release) to go to this page. We had to scroll down a ways to get to this part. From here on, it's easy. If you don't have a high speed connection to the Net, you'll probably want both the software and the documentation. The jdk installs itself. The documentation is a zip file.
And yes, these are large downloads.
