What: Spring Break 2007 Red River Gorge Rock Climbing and Hiking Trip

The trip begins the evening of March 10th (Saturday) and returns the very early morning of March 14th (Wednesday). This trip is open to anyone that enjoys the outdoors, graduate or undergraduate. You do not need prior climbing experience, as there will be instructors with us. If you choose not to climb, there are plenty of other activities. The Natural Bridge State Park and the Daniel Boone National Forest have at least a week's worth of hiking in them, and kayak rentals are available in the area for those who are interested.. There are 40 openings for the trip, (20 hikers, 20 climbers) which will be allocated on a first come first serve basis beginning at 1pm on Friday, February 23rd. Tickets can be purchased in the MTCC bridge, one ticket per ID.
This trip is only open to IIT students. (Your spouse, UIC girlfriend, little brother, grandmother or dentist are not eligible to come.) A deposit of 1/2 your expected cost is due by Friday, March 2nd. A personal check made out to IIT is best. Cash works also, but is not preferred. Club officers will be taking deposits and sign-ups in the MTCC. If you fail to pay by DEADLINE, your spot will be given to the next person on the list. All transportation, camping, and climbing gear, excluding one night of pizza (approx $5 per person), are included in the whole package. You will be required to provide your own sleeping bag, as the only place to rent them in Chicago is now out of business. Cheap ones can be purchased at Walmart or Target for $20. However, I suggest attempting to borrow one first.
Attendees will be required to attend one of two 20 minute informational meetings on Sunday or Monday before we leave in order to sign waivers and get an idea of what you should be bringing. There is serious interest in this trip, so don't delay in requesting a ticket or forget to turn in your deposit!
