The Chair notes that there is a quorum for business.


The UGSC approves the minutes of the meeting of Nov 13, 2007, with corrections, by unanimous consent.


It is moved and seconded that

The term "specialization" refers to tracks within undergraduate degree programs. The term "concentrations" has no official significance in IIT undergraduate curricula.

The motion passes by unanimous consent.


On discussion of the proposals (11/13/07) for revisions to the rules on concurrent degrees, the UGSC expressed a preference for the approach presented as "option (b)." Is it moved and seconded that:

students in degree programs with sufficient free electives and minor coursework to allow a second major, without satisfying IIT's 15-additional-hour requirement for dual degrees, be allowed to earn a second major within a single degree.

The vote is postponed to the next meeting of the UGSC, with the understanding that Prof. Pulliam will present a precisely worded revision of the motion, compatible with the Banner student information system, and with the language used on IIT diplomas,


It is moved and seconded that

The UGSC approves HSS general education credit for Psyc-227: "Educational Strategies."

The motion fails [3, 12].


It is moved and seconded that

            The UGSC approves the proposed (11/13/07) modifications to the BS in Aerospace Engineering.

The motion passes by unanimous consent.
