1)   Minutes of the 3/24/2015 meeting are approved.


Old Business

2)   Pass/Fail grading policy discussion.

a.    Applied Math proposes a series of amendments, which are discussed, but not adopted.

b.    Motion 1: Academic units may designate courses as P/F with the approval of the UGSC.  Passes 8-5.

c.     Motion 2: Students may take up to two courses as P/F.  (No vote.)

                                     i.         Amendment 1: Departments may designate their own courses as ineligible for P/F gradings (Passes 12-1).

d.    Moved and seconded: To eliminate Motion 2 entirely.  Passes 9-7.  Motion 2 is gone.

e.    Moved and seconded: Students may take up to 2 courses as P/F (no restrictions).  Fails 4-12.


New Business

3) Information item (Cesarone):  change to B.S. in MMAE.  Instead of requiring two Senior Capstone Design courses (MMAE 432 Mechanical Systems Design and MMAE 433 Thermal Systems Design), students may now take either one of the courses, and replace the other with a technical elective. This will still satisfy all ABET requirements while allowing greater flexibility in scheduling courses within a four year timeframe.  No change to total hours for degree.
