PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Dec. 2001-May 2003 Senior Research Associate
Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering
Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL

- Developed new statistical process monitoring (SPM), control (SPC), and quality control (QC) methods for batch/fed-batch process operations.

- Developed SPM and QC tools/software for batch data analysis, online monitoring and prediction and conducted data mining, SPC and QC studies in joint projects with pharmaceutical industry.

- Developed an integrated statistical and knowledge-based system in Gensym's G2 for supervising and monitoring batch/fermentation processes.

1999-2001 Postdoctoral Research Associate
Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering
Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL

- Took leadership role in the inception and the coordination of collaborative
projects with industrial and software companies. Gave seminars on SPM/QC of batch processes at industry sites and Gensym.

- Developed two simulators in Matlab and C for pharmaceutical and batch fermentation processes. Web-based implementation of the fermentation simulator is developed as an educational tool.

1996-1997 Development Engineer
Research and Development Department
Eczacibasi Pharmaceuticals Company, Kirklareli, Turkey

- Planned and conducted laboratory scale experiments for new products, improved the quality of the existing products and production processes for the leading Turkish pharmaceutical company. Supervised multiple process/product development projects for new productions including antibiotics.

- Deployed troubleshooting plans for solid/liquid pharmaceutical dosage forms productions in cGMP environment.

- Conducted retrospective and concurrent process validation for new products and problematic runs. Prepared validation reports based on the standard operating procedures (ISO 9001 & cGMP).

- Served in total quality improvement and business process reengineering teams.

- Performed troubleshooting and provided support for laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and SPC/QC software deployment and personnel training.
