The student chapter at the Illinois Institute of Technology (WEF-IIT Student Chapter) was founded in 2003 by Kendra Sveum, who served as its first student chapter president; her immediate goal was to promote student interest and involvement in the water environment field. Dr. Paul Anderson, Associate Professor, Civil, Architecturaland
Environmental Engineering (CAEE) department has been the chapter academic advisor since its inception.
