Intro:
This webpage is dedicated to my summer 2004 REU project at the University of Florida, Gainesville (where they invented Gatorade). Read the reports to find out exactly what "Stalker" is and how it works! If you have comments please write to me at wolkdan@iit.edu.
News:
- This page was just born on 26 May 2004. It will have lots of cool stuff on it and will be updated throughout the summer.
- 27 May 2004. Added the reports section for my convenience and that of the professors overseeing the project.
- 29 June 2004. It is the break between summer A and summer B. I'm getting lots done including running experiments with the freshly designed and t-teched accelerometer evaluation board, and assembling the awesome motor drivers designed by Kevin Phillipson.
- 1 July 2004. I recieved some personal sponsorships to help out with my robot budget. (All I ask is that my robot be AWESOME, that's all). Special thanks to you people -- for helping to make it awesome!
- 4 July 2004. I finished designing my microcontroller board. Pictures of all circuits coming soon.
- 5 July 2004. In recognition of those who donated to my project, I am posting the Parts Acquisition List here, so you can see how much I spent on everything, and what each part is and does. Please note that as I design more sections of the robot, more parts will be added to this list.
- 6 July 2004. Pictures of everything coming soon, I promise!
- 7 July 2004. BTW, if anyone else wants to donate parts or money to this project, here is the mailing address, valid thru 6 August 2004.

- 12 July 2004. Just got back from a few days break out of town. "Did you send in your circuit boards yet?" Almost. I have to design or buy two battery chargers if I want my robot to still work when I go home! In the meantime, I'm using a Greco-board for software development. Thank you Jim Greco!
- 14 July 2004. Ahh! 12 days left until peer final demo, 19 days until media demo day!
- 14 July 2004. I found a good deal on a lead-acid battery charger for $80. Comes with the transformer and everything (I guess I don't need that one from Radio Shack now, which I was going to use with a charger of my own implementation based on this chip). Now, anyone got a NiMH charger which can plug into a battery pack (which doesn't require removal and installation of the individual batteries)?
- 15 July 2004. Ah hah! Thanks to Will Dubel, here is the NiMH battery charger that I need in order to be a real roboticist! Finally, today I sent off my boards to Advanced Circuits for the $33 special. Almost all parts are in!
- 16 July 2004. Updated the website, added two more pages with an orgy of photos and diagrams.
