Program Description
The Summer Scholar Program (SSP) in the Department of Chemistry at Illinois Tech is intended for accomplished high school and community college students who are passionate about learning and are interested in doing some hands-on chemistry research. Research areas include (but are not limited to) bioanalytical chemistry, computational chemistry and biochemistry, environmental chemistry, forensic chemistry, and medicinal chemistry related to energy and sustainability science, materials science, sensor science and technology, computational science, data science, bioanalysis, and health with real-world applications.
Selected students will be paired with a faculty adviser in the department and will work in their research lab for a period of 8 to 10 weeks over summer 2023. Exact dates will be determined based on student and adviser availability. High school and college-level students who are interested in gaining hands-on chemistry research experience and are capable of commuting to Illinois Tech’s campus are welcome to apply.
