Aerospace Engineering - May 2023
My short-term goals involve striking a balance between my academic, professional, and personal life. I have realized that achieving this balance is more than making everything work; it is about developing a system to excel in every facet.
As a student, my academics remain a top priority, and I strive to maintain a 4.0 GPA in aerospace engineering. I place immense regard on the application of skill and therefore want to truly understand the content of my courses. Alongside my academics, I aspire to continue developing my leadership skill and technical knowledge in extracurriculars such as Hyperloop@IIT and as an undergraduate research assistant working on crystal growth.
Pertaining to my professional goals, I am currently co-leading a startup focusing on developing sustainable technology toward wastewater (produced water) mineral extraction. Throughout this journey, I have experienced first-hand what it feels like to be a novice entrepreneur. It has invigorated a newfound passion for entrepreneurship in me that has reflected in my long-term goals. Our team aims to build a working bench-scale prototype in the coming semester and applying for Venturewell stage-1 funding.
Apart from this, I want to ensure I am spending enough time on myself. Revisiting my out-of-touch hobbies like playing badminton or practicing the guitar are some things I wish to do.
In the professional realm, my long-term goal is to develop innovative aerospace propulsion technology by becoming the CDO of my own firm. I am passionate about entrepreneurship, and I strive to become a well-rounded and cognizant entrepreneur in the aerospace industry. In addition, I hope to provide opportunities and resources in aerospace for international students to foster the growth in the field. Aerospace is a rapidly growing industry, and after realizing the lack of diversity in the workforce, I want to dedicate efforts toward empowering the underrepresented.
Along the same vein, I want to leverage the knowledge and experiences gained through my academic and professional career for a greater cause. In light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, I have realized the true importance of innovative technology, and I am passionate about reciprocating my efforts towards a positive social change. To accomplish this, I aspire to develop a strong network with like-minded individuals and implement skills I have mastered to develop solutions to global problems.
