CMC Programming and Employer Engagement Creates Opportunities for Students

By Shahzad Hussain, Senior Associate Director, Stuart Career Management Center

The Career Management Center (CMC) at Stuart School of Business actively recruits employers for Career Pathways by Program presentations, mock interviews, career fairs, and posting open positions on the school’s job board to create opportunities for students.

We have built strategic partnerships with employers by engaging them on a regular basis. We have also established a CMC Advisory Board of industry professionals to assist the CMC with programming and industry insights. This engagement has resulted in great networking opportunities for students, which have led to career success stories.

Over the past few years, business leaders such as Eurex Vice President Matthew Scharpf, Senior Director Dafina Dunmore from Fitch Ratings, Human Resources Analyst Caroline Lillis from Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking, Eric Hernandez from Axiom Technology Group for CME, Naveen George from Bank of America, and many others have spoken with our students about their organizations and their career journeys.

Students have taken advantage of these opportunities to not only learn from the knowledge and experience of the professionals but also to network with them and, over time, build professional relationships with them.

As a result of CMC’s comprehensive corporate engagement strategy, Stuart students and alumni have landed great jobs with participating companies such as CME, Eurex, Bank of America, Fitch Ratings, Calamos Investments, Barchart, Morningstar, and several others.

The CMC has not let the pandemic affect its programming and has continued to create opportunities for students through Career Pathways by Program presentations and mock interviews during the past year. You can view recorded Career Pathways presentations.

We encourage students to continue to take advantage of these opportunities and network with professionals from the industry in the fall 2021 and spring 2022 semesters. Information about these events will be posted in Handshake and circulated through our weekly Stuart newsletter.
