IIT currently has three open endowed professorship positions in engineering to support research and education in the area of energy: The Rowe Family Endowed Chair in Sustainable Energy, Grainger Chair in Electrical and Power Engineering, and Max McGraw Professor of Energy and Power Engineering and Management.

2011 IIT Alumni Awards

IIT continued its long tradition of honoring exceptional alumni who have contributed to their communities, industries, and the university by awarding three MMAE alumni awards. The 65th Annual Alumni Awards was a celebration of excellence showcasing IIT's rich history of visionaries who make us proud. The event was a day to remember as we celebrated 2011 winners and the unveiling of the Alumni Medal tribute honoring our highest alumni award. Congratulations to the 2011 Alumni Award Winners!

Alumni Medal
Edward L. Kaplan (ME '65)
Alumni Medal is awarded to an individual who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to society through service or support, and who has achieved significant personal success.

Collens Merit Award
Alan W. Wendorf (ME '71)
Collens Merit Award is awarded to an individual nominated by the staff and/or faculty as an individual who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the future of IIT through philanthropic contributions paired with involvement in his or her gift.

Global Service Award
Sunwoong Choi (B.S. ME '81, B.S. METM '81, Ph.D. METM '92)
Global Service Award is awarded to an individual who has contributed through extraordinary efforts to strengthening IIT's reputation on an international scale.
