    Alphawood Arboretum March Newsletter

    This past month, in collaboration with the spring 2025 Openlands TreeKeepers course, The Alphawood Arboretum added 53 more trees to the arboretum’s campus. The added trees bring the total number of species on Mies Campus from 68 to 78, and total number of trees from 1,601 to 1,654.

    The Nate Thomas Award Ceremony, organized by the Black Student Union at Illinois Institute of Technology, honors the achievements of Black and Latino students, as well as all faculty and staff. This annual celebration on Friday, April 25, recognizes the outstanding contributions of individuals who have made a significant impact through academic excellence, community engagement, cultural advocacy, social justice, and mentorship. Nominations are due Friday, April 18.
