
Students and researchers at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) are striving to improve the quality of life in our nation while preserving the natural resources and the environment for future generations. At the Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research (WISER), more than 40 faculty members are currently involved in energy and sustainability research and educational activities across the colleges and institutes at IIT.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
IIT's New On-Campus Wind Turbine to Support Green Jobs, Research, and Education
A newly funded IIT wind energy project will focus on increasing clean energy generation, while supporting the long-term development of a clean energy workforce. IIT will lead a consortium of partners selected to receive up to $8 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds.
Recycling @ IIT
IIT's Office of Sustainability and Recycling Team has launched a new website where you can find out what to recycle, where to recycle, and how IIT recycles, and get tips on reducing consumption and reusing materials. The site also posts dates for IIT's monthly, open-campus Sustainability Forums.

More than 100 members of the Chicago legal and environmental communities gathered at Chicago-Kent on July 22 for a sustainability conference entitled "Moving the Midwest Forward: The Benefits of Building a Low-Carbon Economy."
