“Across the Andes,” Lecture and Discussion with Sandra Barclay and Jean Pierre Crousse

Learning from the Andes is pleased to announce its inaugural lecture, “Across the Andes,” with Sandra Barclay and Jean Pierre Crousse of Barclay & Crousse. Recipients of the 2018 Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize, Barclay & Crousse have developed a widely recognized body of work across Peru and internationally. Founded in Paris in 1994 and established in Lima in 2006, the practice has received numerous international distinctions, including the Oscar Niemeyer Prize and the Peruvian National Prize of Architecture, among others. Their work has been published worldwide and presented at the Venice Biennale. In 2016, Sandra Barclay and Jean Pierre Crousse also curated the Peruvian Pavilion at the 15th Venice Biennale, which received the Jury’s Special Mention. “Across the Andes” will offer a reflection on the practice’s work and its sustained engagement with the landscapes, climates, and material cultures of Peru. This lecture and discussion will take place on Monday, September 21, from 5–6:30 p.m. in S. R. Crown Hall’s Center Core.
