Melissa Martinez, U.S. State Department Diplomat in Residence, will be giving a presentation on careers in public administration on Monday, October 15 from 6-7 p.m. in DTC Room 470.

Melissa Martinez is a media and communications professional with over fifteen years of international and domestic experience in the U.S. diplomatic service. As a Public Diplomacy Officer, Melissa spends substantial amount of time serving in a Public Affairs role amplifying foreign policy messaging around the world. Today she is the Diplomat in Residence for the Midwest engaging, mentoring, and building relationships with students and second career professionals interested in pursuing public service. Prior to joining the Bureau of Human Resources team, Melissa worked as the Deputy Press Attache at the US Embassy, Mexico City, one of the largest U.S diplomatic missions in the world. Sh also served as the Director of the Media Hub of the Americas for Latin America and Caribbean media based in South Florida. She received a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International Public Affairs with a concentration in Media and Communications in 2002. She has received many awards during her tenure as a Foreign Service Officer.
