The Chemical and Biological Engineering Department will be hosting a seminar featuring Michael J. Graff, Chairman and CEO of American Air Liquide Holding Inc., IIT Board of Trustees member and alumni, who will be discussing A Bridge to Tomorrow: Science, Society, Sustainability and Service in an ever-evolving world. There will be a reception immediately following the seminar in the lobby of Perlstein Hall.

ABSTRACT

As the world around us continues to rapidly evolve, the global issues of today and the societal needs of generations to come will increasingly depend on science and technology. Addressing these challenges and bridging to the future will require the mindset and vision of a new age of scientists, engineers and leaders dedicated to innovation, service and a more sustainable world.

Short Biography

Mike J. Graff joined Air Liquide in April 2007. He is a senior executive with 30 years of experience in the energy, chemicals and polymers industries across the Americas, Asia and Europe. Graff serves on the Board of Directors of the Lubrizol Corporation, the American Chemistry Council (ACC), the Executive Committee of the Society for Chemical Industries (SCI), and is Chairman of the Medals Committee for SCI. He has served as a board member of several international chemical and polymer companies. Graff holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University. He studied business at the University of Chicago and completed executive management programs at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Cambridge, and the Stanford University Law School.
