Continuing with our Cyber Security Research Seminars, the ECE Department has the pleasure to present one of our own faculty and Distinguished-Speaker, Dr. Zuyi Li, Ph.D. Dr. Li will impart the knowledge he has cumulated in his research of "Smart Grid Cybersecurity: Challenges and Opportunities".

Abstract

Modern power systems have been undergoing the transition to smart grids featured by the wide use of information and communication technologies (ICT), which is not only beneficial in improving the economics and physical security of power system operation but also challenging in maintaining the cybersecurity of such a cyber-physical system. Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) has been at the forefront of world-wide smart grid research and development with the first of its kind IIT Microgrid. This talk will present the challenges in smart grid cybersecurity as well as the research and development activities in smart grid cybersecurity at IIT. On the technical side, this talk will focus on the models, impacts, and protection strategies of false data injection attacks with incomplete information.
