Esports, Entrepreneurship, and Immersive Tech
Illinois Tech Esports and the Ed Kaplan Family Institute for Innovation and Tech Entrepreneurship are combining to host the Esports, Entrepreneurship, and Immersive Tech event on August 20 at the Kaplan Institute. The event will be open to the Illinois Tech university community, as well as the Columbia College Chicago community and stakeholders from the city of Chicago and the esports, entrepreneurial, and immersive tech ecosystems. Kids are welcome.
Programming will take place from 3–6 p.m., including a keynote address, discussions about esports, gaming, immersion tech, and the upcoming Surge esports facility/arena, as well as a pitch competition, networking opportunities, and featured talks and booths that will provide assistance for those who are looking to start an esports program. The event will finish with a three-hour “stay and play” from 6–9 p.m., which will include an esports tournament and open play area. Among the games that will be featured include Beat Saber, Minecraft, and Smash Brothers, among others. Prizes will be awarded.
Sponsors for the event include Illinois Tech, SHI, LG, UGC, Intel, Logitech, and Columbia College Chicago.
More information about the event and registration will be available closer to the event later this summer.
