The Department of Food Science and Nutrition presents its spring 2024 seminar series featuring guest speaker Duey Fimreite, research and development manager at South Chicago Packing LLC, who will give a presentation on “Food Science and Research and Development Overview.” This seminar will take place on Thursday, February 1, from 12:45–1:45 p.m. in room 111 of the Pritzker Science Center.

Abstract

Fimreite will talk about his roles and jobs over a 37-year career as a food scientist.

Bio

Duey Fimreite is a research and development manager at South Chicago Packing LLC, the largest animal fat processor in the United States. Fimreite has over 35 years of experience in R&D and new product development with multinational consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies, multinational ingredient suppliers, and small-to-midsize family-run companies. Duey has two U.S. patents and a third in progress. He has a food science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and an M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship from DePaul University. Besides his passion for food science, you will find Fimreite playing golf, cheering for the Wisconsin Badgers, supporting local artists, and talking stock investing and the importance of financial literacy.
