International Education Week: What a Year—Coping with the Stressors of 2020 and Beyond

Time

-

This has not been the best year. There have been big stressors—the COVID-19 pandemic that has upended millions of lives worldwide; the presidential election; the injustices suffered by people of color; and the challenges of remote learning. College students are experiencing these sudden and unexpected changes while being separated from their familiar on-campus support systems. In a survey conducted amongst more than 2,000 college students in April 2020, one in five respondents reported that their mental health had significantly worsened during the pandemic (Kerr, 2020). Students reported feelings of loneliness and higher rates of anxiety and depression compared to the general population.

Our presentation will highlight some of the many issues faced by students, and offer some tips that students can use to improve their mental health.

Join us to learn about some ideas that will help you to stay positive on the rollercoaster ride that 2020 has been!
