Manu Vora (M.S. CHE ′70, Ph.D. ′75), chairman and president of Business Excellence, Inc., will host the second in a series of Leadership Excellence lectures via Google Hangouts. This session will focus on Effective Teamwork.

Abstract

These interactive sessions will encourage attendees to examine their own leadership characteristics by sharing some models of excellent leadership, as well as discussing the differences between a manager and a leader. Participants will learn key concepts, best practices, and practical tools to enhance their personal leadership skills, as well as sketching out a roadmap for their development. In this session we will discuss effective teamwork. You will learn importance of teamwork to accomplish various initiatives in any organization. Five dysfunctions of a team will be shared. Also goal setting, prioritizing, and feedback will be addressed to enhance your teamwork performance.

Speaker Bio

Dr. Manu Vora is Chairman and President of Business Excellence, Inc., a global quality management consulting firm. He has over 40 years of leadership experience in guiding Fortune 500 companies with Baldrige Performance Excellence assessment in the areas of leadership development, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and process excellence. For over 22 years, as an Adjunct Professor he teaches “Quality Management”, “Supply Chain Management”, “Project Management”, and “Risk Management” courses at business schools globally. He is connected with 66 educational institutions globally.

He is a Past Vice President of ASQ, ASQ Fellow, and Certified Quality Engineer. Manu has B.S. (IIT BHU 1968), M.S. (1970) and Ph.D. (1975) in Chemical Engineering and MBA (1985) with Marketing Management. He is a sought after speaker on business excellence and quality management topics globally with over 500 presentations and has published over 50 articles in professional journals and conference proceedings.

Dr. Vora is serving on the Board of Examiners of the Asia Pacific Global Performance Excellence Award Program since 2004. He is recognized with numerous awards from ASQ including Distinguished Service Medal, Grant Medal, Lancaster Medal, Hutchens Medal, and Ishikawa Medal. He is a Founding Director and President of Blind Foundation for India and raised over $4 million to serve over one million visually impaired people in India since 1989. For his social service he has received 2011 Ellis Island Medal of Honor and 2010 US President’s Volunteer Service Award.
