Jialing Xiang – Professor of Biology, Illinois Institute of Technology

Description: 

The 2019 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was announced on October 7. The prize was awarded to three scientists who made discoveries on how our cells sense and adapt to oxygen availability.  Professor Jialing Xiang from the Department of Biology will give a colloquium talk on this topic on Monday, October 28 at 3:15 pm in Pritzker Science Building auditorium room. She will talk about how the oxygen sensor works and how such a discovery can directly impact treatments from anemia to cancer.  Students and faculty at all levels are welcome to attend.
