IIT Stuart School of Business Maintains Prestigious AACSB International Business Accreditation

Date

Chicago, IL — March 6, 2013 —

The Stuart School of Business at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) has maintained its business accreditation by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This prestigious accreditation reflects the school's continued commitment to excellence in its curriculum, co-curricular programs, faculty recruiting and strategies for student success.

Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.

Only 650 schools of business, or less than 5% worldwide, have earned this distinguished hallmark of excellence in business education. To maintain accreditation, a business program must undergo a rigorous internal review every five years, at which the program must demonstrate its continued commitment to the 21 quality standards relating to faculty qualification, strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.

“It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB Accreditation,” said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students.”

IIT Stuart School of Business offers rigorous academic programs at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels. The Stuart School’s entrepreneurial culture, along with outstanding faculty and industry experts, allow the school to strategically align these programs with the rapidly changing needs of today’s global economy. Stuart’s programs emphasize real world application and prepare graduates for the next economy, while emphasizing a core concept of strategic competitiveness. IIT Stuart students develop creativity, innovativeness, an entrepreneurial mindset, incisive decision-making skills, leadership competencies and an understanding of sustainability through coursework and related professional development opportunities.

"IIT Stuart is committed to providing a rigorous and relevant professional education, and we are honored that AACSB has continued to recognize excellence in our business programs," said IIT Stuart School of Business Dean Harvey Kahalas. "This accomplishment demonstrates not only our continued commitment to the highest standards in business education but also the value of the Stuart School’s culture of innovation and transformation in support of strategic competitiveness."

IIT Stuart's achievement will be recognized at the AACSB International Conference and Annual Meeting on April 7-9, 2013, in Chicago, Illinois.
