Date

Chicago, IL — June 11, 2019 —

Members of the finance and technology communities will honor John F. “Jack” Sandner, the retired CME Group chairman, with the Tech-X Award during Illinois Institute of Technology’s Tech-X fundraiser on June 24.

The event will be held at Skylight Board of Trade, the site of the iconic Chicago trading floors, which was once home to the world’s oldest futures and options exchange.

Kristi Ross, co-CEO and president of tastytrade and host of “Bootstrapping in America” on the tastytrade.com online financial network, will moderate a discussion about fintech, or financial technology.

One of Chicago’s leading corporate citizens, Sandner is the longest-serving elected director in CME history and credited with helping to bring the trading industry into the future through innovation and technology.

The Tech-X Award is given to an individual with an outstanding accomplishment in applying tech to solving real-world problems.

The event benefits the Active Computational Thinking (ACT) Center at Illinois Tech, which is training a future workforce skilled in computational science and problem solving. Illinois Tech is Chicago's only tech-focused university, educating future leaders who create solutions with real-world impact.

Illinois Tech alumnus Hazem Dawani will receive the Tech-X Emerging Leader Award. Shortly after graduating in 2001, Dawani worked at Chicago Trading Company, where he led a team to develop a new software solution to address the firm’s electronic trading problems. He then co-founded OptionsCity, which became a global provider of electronic trading solutions. Currently, Dawani is CEO of Predata, which builds models of human behavior online using alternative data and machine learning techniques to identify and anticipate the risk of future events.
