Media Preview of Restored Architectural Icon S. R. Crown Hall

Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) invites the media for a first look at Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s newly renovated masterpiece of Modernist Architecture, S. R. Crown Hall on August 18 at 10:30 a.m., 3360 S. State Street. Lead architect, Mark Sexton and IIT College of Architecture dean, Donna Robertson, will conduct the walk-through and answer questions about the rebirth of this architectural icon and National Historic Landmark.

Crown Hall renovation facts:

  • Number of glass lites (panes): 340
  • Weight of eleven and one half by nine and one half foot upper glass lite: 700 lbs.
  • Number of steel glass stops: 816
