Mike Gosz Named Vice President for Enrollment at Illinois Tech
Chicago, IL — August 12, 2015 —
Illinois Institute of Technology President Alan W. Cramb announced the appointment of Mike Gosz as vice president for enrollment at Illinois Tech. Gosz, who has been serving in the role as vice provost for admissions and financial aid at Illinois Tech since 2012, assumed his new role on August 3, 2015.
“Mike has taken on increasing responsibility throughout his leadership roles at Illinois Tech,” said Cramb. “He has been instrumental in streamlining business practices, improving operations and increasing our undergraduate enrollment. He is ready to lead our student growth initiatives"
Gosz, who joined Illinois Tech in 1996 as an assistant professor of mechanical and materials engineering, was granted tenure in 2002 and joined the senior leadership team in 2006 as vice provost for undergraduate affairs. During his role as vice provost for undergraduate affairs, Gosz was instrumental in increasing the first-to-second-year retention rate and improving the six-year graduation rate. Gosz and his team started the Idea Shop at Illinois Tech in 2010 and oversaw Illinois Tech’s interdisciplinary projects program (IPRO) where he revamped the curriculum and significantly increased external fundraising.
In 2012, Gosz was promoted to vice provost for admissions and financial aid, during which time, Illinois Tech’s undergraduate freshman applications increased by 77 percent.
As vice president for enrollment, Gosz will oversee the Office of Undergraduate Admission, Graduate Admission, Financial Aid, and the One Stop Service Center.
Gosz earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University and his Master’s degree and Ph.D in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Northwestern University. He is married to Mary Lee Gosz and has two children, Madeline and David.
