CHICAGO—Stephen Keogh, an Aon executive, has been elected to the Illinois Institute of Technology Board of Trustees.

“Illinois Tech’s goals to educate the next generation of problem-solving and innovative professionals to address some of the twenty-first century’s toughest challenges and build a sustainable world through technology resonates with me, both personally and professionally,” says Keogh. “I’m honored to join the board of this incredible university born out of such a noble mission to serve as an opportunity engine here in the city of Chicago.”

Keogh currently serves as a senior advisor for the Office of the President at Aon, and has been with the company for more than 30 years. Aon is a leading global professional services firm providing a broad range of risk, retirement, and health solutions. Prior to his current position, he was president of the Commercial Risk Solutions division. Commercial Risk Solutions is Aon’s global risk management business, providing risk advisory, risk transfer, and structured solutions to help clients identify, measure, and manage their risk exposure. Keogh has served in a variety of roles with Aon including director of operations and product manager, vice president of human resources and chief administrative officer of the Americas region, and president of United States Commercial Risk and Health Solutions. Keogh was instrumental in developing Aon’s people strategy across the Americas, and is passionate about recruiting, retaining, and growing Aon’s pipeline of talent. He has worked in the firm’s Dallas, San Francisco, and Chicago offices.

“Steve’s passion for driving an organization’s strategy around the collective talent of people of all backgrounds aligns with our collaborative goals to advance technology,” says Raj Echambadi, president of Illinois Tech. “We are honored to have Steve as a member of our board to help us harness the university’s inventive minds, empathetic hearts, and ingenious spirits toward building a university of the future.”

Keogh is a director of the Western Golf Association’s Evans Scholars Foundation, which is the nation’s largest scholarship program for caddies. He is also an Evans Scholar alumnus, and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

“Steve understands that people are the biggest assets to any organization,” says Ernie Iseminger, vice president for advancement at Illinois Tech. “His commitment to develop people to fulfill their potential is an important part of our work with faculty and staff, donors, and alumni to establish Illinois Tech as a global university and valued citizen in Chicago and beyond.”

Michael P. Galvin (LAW ’78), chairman of the Illinois Tech Board of Trustees, says that Keogh’s business leadership and experience with the Evans Scholars Foundation will bring a unique perspective to the board.

“Steve’s business acumen for driving strategy and growth will be invaluable to the university’s ability to fulfill its founding purpose to liberate the collective power of difference to advance technology and progress for all,” Galvin says. “I am delighted to welcome Steve to the board to help us reimagine education through investing in the academic enterprise and harnessing efficiencies to advance Illinois Tech’s reputation as an innovator in higher education.”
