Join Asian PopUp Cinema and the Office of Community Affairs and Outreach Programs on September 30, 2023, at the Schulz Auditorium in Michael Paul Galvin Tower for the annual Asian Film Festival!

At 2:30 p.m., we will screen Ripples of Life. In this film, a crew arrives in a small town in southern China for pre-production on a film titled Ripples of Life. Initially, the story is based on the premise that life is dull and nothing ever happens in towns like this. But to the crew’s surprise, a series of unforeseen events involving the director, the screenwriter, the lead actress, and the local residents begin to occur.

The second film screening will begin at 4:30 p.m. Inspired by true events and set in 2003, in the aftermath of the SARS epidemic, The Best Is Yet To Come addresses issues that echo today’s global scenario, where politics and prejudices sometimes conflict with safety and health concerns. A young journalist uncovers the trafficking of forged health certificates for Hepatitis B carriers—often asymptomatic patients—who are unjustly discriminated against as a result of the lingering belief that the virus can be easily transmitted in public spaces.

Free parking is available across the street at lot D4, on State Street between 35th and 34th streets. Admission is free, but you must register! All films have English subtitles. The Consulate General of the People's Republic of China is providing traditional mid-autumn treats for all attendees!
